How to spot and avoid scams
The warning signs of a fake ad or a fraudulent buyer.
Be cautious if the price is far below market, the seller refuses a viewing, asks for a deposit or 'viewing fee' before you see the car, wants payment to a personal number in someone else's name, or pressures you to decide quickly.
Sellers: be wary of buyers who overpay and ask for a refund, send fake M-Pesa messages, or want to collect the car before the money clears. Confirm payments in your own M-Pesa or bank statement.
